高台が付いた平安～鎌倉時代の古い様式の古常滑大片口鉢です。常滑の片口鉢には擂鉢としての機能はなく、調理器具としての用途や、経筒容器の壺蓋など、多目的に用いられていました。平安時代の枯れた緊張感ある佇まい。本品を火鉢として見立ててもかっこいいです。

牛革にはまだ多く毛が残っています。使い込むと、毛はなくなるそうです。
